The story behind this Surreal Frog Wall Art.

“This is a really personal piece. Each of the different elements represents a different part of my life during a time when everything seemed to be changing – my work, friendships, living arrangements, everything.

“It’s a snapshot of a particular moment in my life. And every time I see the painting, I’m transported straight back there.

“I originally began the painting as a way of exploring how I was feeling at the time. I played with the colours, painted the grass upside down and added the soaring, butterfly-shaped hands. Together, these elements captured a feeling of transformation, connection and care.

“Finally, I added the small red frog leaping from the bottom-right corner. For me, the frog symbolises a friend, as well as renewal and the constant need to adapt when life is changing around you.

“The result is a painting that feels both familiar and dreamlike – a meeting point between reality and imagination. The hands represent our ability to shape and interact with the world around us, while the frog brings ideas of transformation, renewal and adaptability into the composition.

“For me, Hands With Leaping Frog is ultimately about connection: between people, nature and imagination. It holds a lot of personal symbolism, which is probably why, out of all my paintings, it’s the one that gets the most questions.

“Every time I look at this painting, it moves me.”
