I had the joy of visiting the Lake District in 2024 during lambing season. During this time, I watched hundreds of adorable little lambs leaping around the British countryside with pure joy.

I happened to speak with a farmer who was hand-rearing a lamb because their ewe had given birth to three lambs. I learned that, because female sheep only have two udders, they can traditionally struggle to raise three lambs.

That little conversation gave me the idea for Abstract Leaping Lamb. While there is one main lamb in focus, there are actually three lambs present in the painting — a small detail inspired by the story I heard that day.
