I love painting animals; each one has its own personality — just like humans. I use my paintings to explore not only what animals look like, but what they feel like to be around.

For this painting, I started with a bold wash of yellow and orange to create the background, then added a sprinkle of salt to create a beautiful organic texture, seen primarily in the top-left corner.

As a cat lover, I drew a series of cats in different phases of a leap using a stick of graphite. I wanted to capture the moment a cat suddenly launches into motion — that split second between stillness and chaos.

Finally, I filled in my sketches with paint, giving each cat a slightly different style to represent their individual personalities.
