“I had the pleasure of visiting Cambodia in 2025. Inspired by my trip, I created a blue background by scattering dry rice across the surface – one of the country’s staple foods. Next, I painted an Australian Pouched Rat in the centre; these incredible mammals have been trained to find landmines following years of civil unrest. Above it, rests a banana – a fruit eaten by humans and rats as a treat.
“This painting is the second in my Cambodia series, and follows Underwater Angkor Wat; which depicts one of the country’s most iconic temples, at the bottom of a lake.”
